About the Author

 Jo Tomlinson attended The Woodrush High School in Hollywood, Birmingham before studying Chemistry at The University of Reading.  She then did a Masters at Huddersfield University whilst she worked out what she was going to do with the rest of her life.  A chance conversation with a friend got her into Clinical Research and she spent the next ten years working for various pharmaceutical companies as far afield as Australia and Canada.

Jo's life drastically changed direction when she met Crispin Freeman, a partner in a London law firm, in 2000.  She married him 18 months later on a beach in Costa Rica.  Since 2004 they have had three children (Estrella 2004, Arturo 2005, Ruby 2007), 14 dogs, five horses, umpteen chickens and have built a successful rental house business on Finca Estrella near Pavones in Southern Costa Rica.

Jo started writing their story after sending out update emails about their crazy life to friends and family and receiving lots of replies insisting that she write a book.  'A Friend Laughs' is the funny but sobering tale of the first 18 months of that crazy life.  She hopes you enjoy it.  The follow-up will be out in 2010.
